ON THE USE OF AMATEUR FREQUENCY BAND FOR THE SOHLA-1 MISSION

We, Astro-Technology SOHLA, would like to use amateur frequency band for the communication between the satellite stations and the ground station for the SOHLA-1 spacecrafts developed with Osaka University and Osaka Prefecture University. We recognize that the amateur radio frequency band is open to the public which is not aim for commercial use but for self training, communication and research activity based on individual interest in radio communication.

SOHLA-1 spacecrafts are microsatellite demonstrators of the panel extension satellite (PETSAT) concept, modularizing each subsystem of satellite into panel configuration, aiming to encourage active participation of radio amateurs, universities and non-space small organizations. SOHLA-1 demonstrates communication system.

We will perform communication experiments as follows; - Experiment of RF propagation of newly developed FSK/FM transceivers and CW transmitters between the satellite stations and the ground station - Verification of COTS components in space environment - Experiment of receiving telemetry data with amateur band grand stations

The experiments we will conduct with amateur transceivers as follows; 1/ Receiving CW in Morse code 2/ Receiving telemetry data using Ax.25 protocol 3/ Uplink and Downlink of messages using Ax.25 protocol

In order to contribute actively to worldwide radio amateurs, we would like to provide the information of our projects and operate our amateur satellites with the cooperation of radio amateurs, JARL/JAMSAT and other specialists.

We recognize that the amateur radio frequency band is open to the public which is not aim for commercial use but for self training, communication and research activity based on individual interest in radio communication.

SOHLA-2 spacecrafts are microsatellite demonstrators of the panel extension satellite (PETSAT) concept, modularizing each subsystem of satellite into panel configuration, aiming to encourage active participation of radio amateurs, universities and non-space small organizations.
